Aysha Loves NY: Best Greek Restaurants in NYC

Introducing My Favorite Spots for Mediterranean Cuisine

Living and working in New York City has made me who I am today. Even after years of traveling, and the time I spent in Europe, this city’s grit, tenacity, and sense of wonder continue to influence my designs and everyday choices. That’s why, along with my fashion and career tips, I’d also like to highlight some of my favorite New York hotspots and activities.

Let’s start off this brand new series with a short list of amazing Greek restaurants in NYC. Keep these in mind for your next big event or holiday gathering — or for when you’re craving Mediterranean cuisine.

Estiatorio Milos

I just have to start off with one of our favorite places in Midtown, which now has another location in Hudson Yards. Estiatorio Milos — or simply, Milos —features lots of fresh seafood and a large open setting. While all of the dishes are very simple, each ingredient is handpicked and freshly caught to ensure the very best quality.

Choose from their sashimi or cured platters, or select a whole fish and have it cooked to your liking. And don’t overlook their amazing side dishes and desserts, especially the karidopita — spiced walnut cake.

Avra 48th Street

The dining area of Avra 48th Street

Another go-to spot for great Mediterranean cuisine, Avra actually has three New York City locations. You’ll find them on Madison Avenue, East 48th Street, and 6th Avenue at Rockefeller Center. While all three are very similar, the 48th Street spot is definitely the best.

Here, you’ll find a large menu with lots of wonderful seafood, like their grilled octopus, and even options for meat-lovers and vegetarians. It also offers a cozier indoor space and outdoor dining so you can enjoy those warm weather days.

Travel Tip: Avra also has two other locations — Beverly Hills and Miami

Kellari Taverna

Located near Grand Central, Times Square, and the Theater District, Kellari offers lots of different menus for every occasion. Here, you’ll find specialty items for brunch, a lunch prix fixe, happy hour, and even a wide array of desserts.

They even have special pre-theatre menus for when you have show tickets and need to keep track of time. This means you can still enjoy a fabulous three course meal even when you’re in a rush. Although we’d always make time for their lobster dishes and yogurt cake.

Pylos

If you prefer restaurants with a more rustic setting, then you’re going to love Pylos. Set in the East Village, near Tompkins Square Park, it focuses on natural elements and great comfort food. Once you step in, you’ll find a setting that takes you to the ruins of Ancient Greece — complete with terra cotta pots and an exposed brick accent wall.

And now is the perfect time of year to enjoy their pastitsio or moussaka while sampling their extensive wine list. I can’t recommend this place enough for either a date night or a simple get-together with friends.

While these are just some of my favorite Greek restaurants in NYC, they’re all at the top of my list. And don’t forget to have your best AYSHA NY styles on hand when booking your reservation. Look and feel your best while dining at any of these amazing locations.
